In The Game

Timing is what is needed...
I feel the metal in my my hand
Timing, distance..measuring it with my eyes...
I pull the bat up, see the ball...swing...nice hit.

If only life could be measured the same way.
I am told it can..I guess I need more practice.

If  only my mind could work off the field...
If only my focus could zero in on the task at hand.
But my decision should be clear..
Have to focus in order to get what I want.

Legs moving, trying not to stumble..
First base, second base,....
Lost focus....quick slide...
Not quick enough...yet still feeling fulfilled.

Shake it off...take the field.

Eyes open, must keep focus...
I can feel the leather in my hand...
Watching it close in on my space...
Glove up, open, ball in, right hand covers...nice.

Timing can be everything...
Sometimes playing the game is all I need.

  1. Life can be like a baseball season, one day at a time, one game at a time. Keeping the focus on the current moment can ensure long term success. Being ready for the task at hand each day at your job or in class doesn't always give the result you wish for, just as being prepared for every game doesn't guarantee winning every game. But in each case your best effort will usually result in a positive long term result such as receiving an A in class, receiving a promotion or attaining a winning season.

Despite the desire to do so, we cannot always give 100% effort at all times, no human can. There are peaks and valleys in life just as there are winning and losing streaks in baseball. You need to accept each result for what it is and realize you cannot change the past, just move forward and do your best to reach the goals you have set for yourself.

Words of wisdom from someone who has won and lost many games both in baseball and life. Set your goals high and do your best to reach them!

    Best wishes to you Gloria!!!

  2. And even more to note, baseball is a marathon, not a sprint. Life should be viewed the same. There is no rush to a finish line in life, since we don't know with certainty where that is. With each loss, you learn the lesson so as not to lose the same way again and when faced with the same situation, you win.

I am a fairly complete history of losses learned from and now I am trying to turn them into wins. I think so far I have 'won' a lot and trying to win my way to the top.

  3. I like this one, too, Glo! In life, like sports, some are pros and most of us are rookies. Win, lose, or tied, learn from all types of results and just try to have fun while playing. <3
